Had 3 camp sites across from me party and were loud until 3am the whole time I was there and nothing was done about it (11pm quiet time stated everywhere). Was told the day I got there to keep all belongings off the grass the next day because of irrigation so I did but that didn't stop a sprinkler from watering the inside of my trailer for hours. Fishing was great, swimming was ok if you don't mind all the seaweed in the water. The outhouse was an absolute disgrace so thankfully they had ONE flush toilet. Overall it wasn't a pleasant experience and won't be returning.
We came down for burgers at 7pm on a Sunday and the grill was already closed. We were told that it had been cleaned and we couldn't order anything off the grill. It's a nice new store for the park, but if you can't order food around supper time, what's the point? It's disappointing considering I've lived close to the park my whole life and have always loved visiting, but I don't feel inclined to support the store if it closes down before actual closing hours.
Love this park.. Campgrounds are big enough. There's no cellphone coverage so be prepared to drive about 5 minutes if you need to contact the outside world. There's also no grills on fire pits, if your planning to do a BBQ using firewood, bring your own grill..
An oasis in the desert. This typically a dry part of the country and the Travers dam has allowed the development of this very attractive campground with its abundant water supply. It is tucked away in a valley with plenty of trees, a sandy beach for kids, a good boat launch and marina and most importantly friendly staff. The location is a little remote but that's a good thing. Definitely worth the trip.
Nice campground, day use, beach and group camping areas. Can be a little expensive ($12/bundle of firewood, $2/5 minute showers). By far one of the best boat launch/marina's around which are free to use for the public. The camp sites are a little small and close together, also some are much better than others by way of foliage and trees (some nicely shaded and blocked from wind and others fairly bare and exposed). Roads throughout the campgrounds are fairly narrow so moving your large truck and trailer can be tricky. Overall worth checking out.
